Profile UWID

Product development at UWID (University of Wuppertal - Industrial Design)

We are looking for highly committed students keen to play an active role in designing the products of the future, students who are determined to develop their skills and talents for a successful career launch – joining the 85% of our graduates who work as professional designers. This is one of the best job quotas nationwide in the field of industrial design.

Focused on process-oriented product development, the University of Wuppertal's degree program in Industrial Design is concerned with the planning, conception and design of products for industrial mass production. Innovative thinking at the interface of technology with daily living is a key element of our work. Applicants for our program who are committed to this challenge will have the opportunity to collaborate, in the truest sense, in designing our global future.

UWID – number one in NRW (Federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia)
According to the FOCUS / Art Directors Club ranking of creative degree programs in Germany – the first ever undertaken – UW's Industrial Design program is the unchallenged number one in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), followed by Essen on fourteenth and Aachen on twenty-first place nationwide. Ranked fourth among the 111 entrants, the UWID program is right up with the leaders, separated by only 7 out of 100 points from the overall winner, Schwäbisch Gmünd. This shows that our consistent focus on technical product development and product systems is on the right track for a top training profile and sound career prospects, and it gives us a strong motivation to improve our excellent position still further.
